Message of goods and services .. if it cost more to transport goods ( transcontinental / global / interstate ), all services / commerce prices go up so that the overall profit margin of a business stays at a minimum level. Until things are teleported / transported with a magic flying carpet .. or the US develops an alternative fuel source / is able to develop home grown refineries that produce a majority of the crude oil domestically consumed ... the entire economy will be suspect to price fluctuations ..
